ScienceUs Info Day: Advancing Citizen Science Together

On December 17, 2024, we successfully implemented the ScienceUs Info Day, a virtual gathering of citizen scientists, academics, and innovators from across Europe. This event showcased the ScienceUs Open Call and Upscale Academy, providing insights into the project’s goals and opportunities for collaboration.

Event Overview

The event featured three dynamic webinars, each focused on key aspects of citizen science and scaling its impact across Europe:

Webinar 1: ScienceUs Open Call

  • Welcome & Introduction: Rafaella Lenoir Improta (Universidad Autonoma de Madrid) opened with an inspiring introduction to the ScienceUs project.
  • Open Call Details: Cristian Ioja (University of Bucharest) provided a comprehensive overview of the application and evaluation processes.
  • Upscale Academy & Berlin Bootcamp: Cristian Ioja also highlighted how these initiatives will nurture innovation in citizen science.

Webinar 2: Sharing Citizen Science Success Stories

  • Inspiring Projects: Mathilde Bessert-Nettelbeck (Museum für Naturkunde Berlin) shared engaging stories of successful citizen science initiatives, sparking ideas for future collaborations.

Webinar 3: EU Mission Adaptation to Climate Change

  • Climate Change and Citizen Science: Adina Croitoru (University Babeș-Bolyai) discussed the EU Mission Adaptation to Climate Change.
  • Best Practices for Upscaling: Marina Mattera (Agora Project) showcased practical approaches to scaling citizen science across Europe.
