Through first-hand conversations with researchers, practitioners, and project teams, the series explores how citizen science can support more open, inclusive, and impactful research. Each episode highlights real experiences from the field, practical lessons learned, and the role of citizen engagement in addressing societal and environmental challenges.
The podcast has also been featured by Aix-Marseille Université (AMU) in its news section, helping to further disseminate the series and strengthen its visibility across European research and academic communities.

Episode 1 — Citizen Science in Action: Thermo-staat
As summers get warmer, indoor heat is becoming a growing health concern. In the first episode, we speak with Teije Terhorst from Waag Futurelab about Thermo-staat, a Dutch citizen science project where residents measure home temperatures and work with experts to understand the data, showing how everyday experiences can become meaningful citizen science.
Thermo-staat brings together residents, researchers, journalists, and climate experts to investigate the impact of heat stress in homes caused by rising temperatures and climate change. By using simple sensors to collect temperature and humidity data, citizens contribute directly to research and public dialogue on housing conditions, heat resilience, and climate adaptation.

Episode 2 — Citizen Science in Action: EcoVoce
What happens when communities affected by pollution are given the tools to document it themselves? In the second episode, we speak with Lucrina Ștefănescu about EcoVoce, a Romanian citizen science project where residents use a mobile app and digital mapping tools to monitor environmental issues, showing how local observations can support research and more inclusive environmental decision-making.
EcoVoce empowers local communities to record and map environmental challenges such as illegal dumping, water pollution, and long-standing ecological damage in former mining regions. Through citizen-generated data, the project strengthens local participation, raises awareness, and supports more informed action on environmental issues.
